Lexington and surrounding area taxes
Can anyone give me a ballpark idea what you could expect to pay in taxes on say a 400,00 dollar house in Georgetown?

Tory,
From my search of that zip code it looks like the tax rate varies (I think it varies by neighborhood/school district). If you search this site:
http://www.lbarmls.com/
You can search by zip code, address, subdivision, area, price range, etc. and it gives the tax rate for each listed house as part of the listing. I found a variation between 0.83% to 1.03% in that zip code.

And, if you get outside of the "town" limits and in Scott County itself (like Mallard Point, Victoria Station (I think), etc), it is actually only .7%. There isn't really much difference between living in Georgetown proper or living in Scott County, at least in my experience. Basically, your law enforcement is served by the sheriff's office and not the town police, and you aren't eligible to vote in town elections (mayor, etc). There are also some differences in trash collection. The address is still Georgetown and the town itself is very close. In fact, some of the county neighborhoods will put you closer to I-75 and be an easier commute to Cincinnati. It is actually difficult to determine which neighborhoods are within town limits and which are not, although a realtor should be helpful for this.
