I am currently in the marketing for a home and have been approved for a loan. I have looked all over Lexington and have turned this search into a hobby. Can you tell me which neighborhood you like most? I have to find a house under $250K.

Here is a list of neighborhoods I have looked at thus far...

Chilesburg Landing - A Ball Homes neighborhood. These are great location and are close to my work.

The Reserve at Bryant Oak - Another Ball Homes neighborhood. These homes seem to be a little larger and nice and are also close to my work.

Stuart Hall - A Barlow Homes neighborhood. The homes in this area also seem to be very nice and spacious.

I will spare you a long list of all of the places I have looked. I don't have children, so schools aren't an issue at this point. I really would like to be on the NE side of town.

Please feel free to add your two cents.

Thanks...

Hey DietDew4me. I live out here in 40509 and know all these areas. Of them all, Stuart Hall is the one that will fair the best in time. Second would be Chilesburg, then Bryant Oak. Bryant Oak is nice, but the schools aren't as good. I know you said you don't have kids, but that does have an impact on the value. That whole area of 40509 on that side of the interstate isn't as appealing to most buyers in your stated price range. What is popular over there is the house under $200k. When I have buyer's looking under $200k, they want to go over there. For buyer's over $200k, they want to be in Andover Hills, Stuart Hall and Chilesburg.

I just did a blog post on what to look for in a neighborhood. It is on city-data, but here is a link if it is easier: Putting the “Real” in Lexington Real Estate It'll give you tips on how to make a wise decision..........Best of luck!
