I've been longing for a move out of Columbia, MO for a few years now. There's a quiz on Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is not allowed that has regularly placed Little Rock as number 1 on my list multiple times. Id never really considered it before but now im wondering if i am overlooking a great place.

However, I do have a couple questions about the city.

1. Without having a job and being single, what would be a reasonable amount to save for a move? I'm unsure on the job market and rental rates so hard to come up with a good figure.

2. How is the job market? Preferably in more white collar/office environments?

3. How's public transportation? I may get rid of my pos car if moving to a place with extensive public transportation.

Thanks for any answers, tips or suggestions!

I don't know what you're wanting to rent, but I'm thinking $800/mo. is a good round number to start. Maybe $700. If you search in this particular Little Rock forum you may find a lot of your answers. Your housing may be more or less - apartment or house? Do you know anything at all about Little Rock? Age bracket to work with?

Job market - I don't think it's that great - again, sort of what you're looking for.

Public transportation is pretty much a joke - I would by no means call it extensive. Little Rock is really sprawled out and the metro area also takes in North Little Rock. Trust me - bring a car.

Here's the link to the CAT (Central Arkansas Transit) schedules and routes:

Can you give us more info on what type office job or profession, age group, what amenities you are looking for?
