The company buying the hotel has a good reputation and has a growing number of higher end hotels. Once the pending sale is finalized, a brand for the hotel will likely be announced. All they've said so far is that they want a brand fitting for a Four-Diamond full-service hotel. The new owner has already announced plans for around $14-18 million in renovation work on the rooms and some changes to the lobby, etc. so I think this will be a very positive thing for downtown. I do like the Peabody brand (and I love the ducks), but it's such a small/relatively unknown chain and the current owners were having difficulties lining up the money for the renovations, so I can understand why the sale is happening. Unfortunately when the Peabody brand leaves, so will the ducks.
