There must be something going on. In driving around my neighborhood I am seeing many "For Sale" signs going up on vacant/unimproved property, there are several new commercial buildings going up, and some that have been vacant for a short while are being remodeled and reconfigured for other uses. Two specific ones are the Kroger store on west Chenal Parkway and the building supply store across Kanis from it.

Little Rock's unemployment rate has been hovering just below 7% for a long time now. It's doing quite a bit better than the national average. Did that Kroger close? If so, it's good to see it being redeveloped rather than sitting empty like a lot of grocery stores do.

Kroger built a new, bigger store just west of the old one, on the same property. After they vacated the old one it almost immediately was being reconfigured. There are now several small businesses in the old structure. I don't remember all of them, but there is a nice fitness center there. I understand the building supply store across Kanis was redeveloped into a call center.

Something else I'm seeing is an increase in the number of new or expanded eating places. Some facilities that have been closed for a while are being re-opened by new owners, some are remodeling and expanding their existing facilities, and several new ones built from the ground up.

There are 2 or 3 new buildings going up in the River Market District too. I think one of them is a new hotel. Not sure about the other.
