Default West littlerrock is probably the nicest

West Little Rock has the benefit of being within Little Rock city limits, but has that suburban type feel. WLR is very affluent, somewhat transient, and very diverse. People from all over the country and the world live and thrive here. The farther west in Little Rock, the nicer it is. There has been an influx of new homes, townhomes, and apartments out here and there is a lot more on the way. They have built a lot of higher end commercial developement such as 2 new open air malls, new strip malls, etc. Coming from metro D.C., I know that you will be surprised by the difference in cost of living here. Even though your average house in WLR is anywhere from $400,000 to $900,000, it is a lot less than you would see in Baltimore-Washington.

wow, 400-900k?? I have two friends that live in wlr, both in really nice homes in neighborhoods that look pretty nice, and neither has had any crime problems so far - one in the sub-$200k range, the other built new for around $300k. Even those two are pretty dramatically different neighborhoods, though, so I'm not saying you're wrong, I just think WLR has a pretty wide range of options... Still like hillcrest better myself, though

I would tend to agree - west Little Rock is so huge now there are many neighborhoods of varying prices. Leawood is considered WLR and there's nothing $400K there, or at least not much, and it's a great neighborhood. The far west end IS very affluent but there are still pockets which are nowhere near the $400K mark. And I'm with defiance, I like Hillcrest too (although Hillcrest has a LOT in that price range).
