When I was growing up in the 1970s and 1980s, my family watched KATV most of the time, although we live in Mississippi. I used to see advertisements for the following businesses. Do any of them still exist?

1. Schuster's Furniture - at Asher and University
2. Browning's Mexican Restaurant
3. The Shack Restaurant
4. Coy's Steak House
5. Moore Ford

Brownings sold and went to new owners. It's pretty cool these days to be seen there - I can remember a time when business had fallen off just a few short years ago. They replaced a lot of menu items but kept some of the old favorites....and they got a liquor license, too. It's not the same old hole-in-the-wall it used to be.

I guess Marshall Schuster finally managed to have that going out of business sale he had for years on end. Must have finally made everyone believe they were "selling everything to the walls".

Who remember the Mad Butcher supermarkets? Or the Little Rock Broom and Mop Company?

I also remember seeing commercials for Maumelle with the jingle "Maumelle, Arkansas, a new home town coming throoouuugggh."

There is still a mad butcher in Dumas, but it is owned by the same company that owns the piggly wiggly ( in Dumas) and several other store brands in ark, ms and mo. Nice new store, because the old store was destroyed by a tornado several years ago.
