Moving to Little Rock with my Lab
I am relocating to Little Rock in Feb. and would like to find a condo or small home to rent in the Hillcrest area ..... or possibly a location in Riverdale. I am a bit familiar with the area and am looking for a pet friendly environment. My lab needs lots of exercise and would like a safe place to walk and play. Any dog parks in the area mentioned? Would appreciate any help.

There is a dog park somewhere...a relative's dog got kicked out, so I know there is one, just don't know where it's at. If you're in Hillcrest everyone walks on the promenade, and of course there is the whole Riverdale area down by the soccer fields. I'd go to Hillcrest, though, just because it's kind of a neat, artsy neighborhood with lots of foot traffic!

Thanks Sam ..... sorry about your relative's dog, though ... lol. I can see that happening to us!! I will ask around, because here in St Louis they have some really good ones and the dogs LOVE it. Also, if anyone knows of a good 2 BR condo for rent in Hillcrest, please let me know. I have been checking Craig's List ... also the Classifieds online, but nothing this week. Any other info would be great!!

I don't know that you will find any condos in Hillcrest...the only ones I can think of are actually Heights or Prospect Terrace down by N. Pierce and Lee or H St. I'm thinking hard but not coming up with much besides apartments. No, I'm reasonably sure there's no condos in Hillcrest. You'll get apts. or guest houses or small cottages in that area.
There are a few property management places in Little Rock that sort of specialize in that area...if you find a company that you like, or an individual, give one of us a shout and we'll give you the skinny on what's up. There are good people to do business with - and there are GREAT people.
In the meantime, my sister lives in the Heights - I'll have her kind of eyeball things since she's out and about and is the ears and mouth of the south...she frequently knows things before they hit the market.

Thanks again .... there actually is a condo complex called Linden Courts, which is on N. Pierce. Do you have any skinny on that complex? I am considering buying, but may need to rent something for a year to pick the area I really enjoy. There are also condos (converted apts.) called the Cliffs. I like that area by the river. Do you know anyone who lives there? Also, your sister's help would be fantastic.

Well, it's sort of at the far reaches of Hillcrest. I'd actually forgotten about those being there. Linden Cts. is near University at either Woodlawn or H, and I would not consider it Hillcrest at all. Again, the realtors have stretched the boundary lines significantly in an attempt to make things very marketable. I think that's considered more of the Forest Heights or even Hall High area...Hall would be across University and west about 8-10 blocks, Forest Heights Jr. High is north about 3 blocks.
I am familiar with the Cliffs, although I didn't know it had gone condo. That area has experienced a resurgence as well with the development of the Big Damn Dam and the riding trails, etc. The apartments or condos are a little older, maybe 70's or 80's vintage? They are smooth build into the side of a hill, but I recall them being very stable. I just wouldn't want all the traffic by my door that goes to Rebasamen Park on the weekends. My son lived in one of the apartment complexes down along that stretch - he never had any problems at all - the apartment was okay, but nothing special.

Oh, sorry ... I don't think that they advertised the Linden Courts as Hillcrest. Just wondering if you knew of the area and complex. The Cliffs I am referring to are down off LaHarpe near the River Trail and Rivermarket. Small complex on the river. You may be referring to Rivercliff ... think it is still apts only and heard it was overpriced and parking was difficult. Thanks again.

Oops, seems we had our wires crossed all the way around! I don't know the Cliffs, but I'd bet someone here does...and I misunderstood on Linden Cts. They actually sit at a fairly busy intersection, or east just a tad, but it's a stable neighborhood. It's just right at University, which might make for a lot of road noise. Other than that, I don't know that I've heard anything negative about them.

Thanks again ... I'll check out your suggestions that I have found by reading other threads here. I look forward to any info anyone could share regarding Linden Courts or the Cliffs off La Harpe.

Hi!
I've heard lots of good things about the Cliffs. I've talked with several people in the past year that really enjoy it down there. Prices are good and so is the location! I'm not too familiar with Linden Courts. However, it does ring a bell. There is a dog park down on the river. My wife and I take our dog, Ralph, down there all the time. It's a good place to let your dog get out and run and socialize with other dogs. Since you'll be new to LR, it will also be a good place for you to meet people! If you have any questions at all, let me know!
