Downtown L.R. is booming and it appears the sky is the limit. This weeks ARKANSAS TIMES newspaper devoted the entire issue to what's happening there. Wow! I'm impressed

I have been to downtown Little Rock a few times, although not in the past six months. I have come away feeling like it is on the cusp of becoming a really great little city.

The downtown has natural beauty, the river, it is bike friendly, and there is a neat little core of places to go and things to see.

There are 8 or more really good restaurants in the downtown area that we eat at occasionally, some are white tablecloth. Cross the river into north LR and you pick up several more. I think downtown LR would be a fun place to live and play, I might just do that someday.

While I like west LR, you have to drive everywhere, even to get to a safe place to ride your bicycle.

10-4 on all that. I too live in west L.R. and because of the traffic I don't venture east except when I have no choice, and then choose the time of day. When visiting Washington D.C. and Falls Church VA I see that a traffic light is considered a challenge instead of traffic control. I'm seeing more and more of that here. And it is easy to say "where is a cop when you need one" but as short-handed as they are I think they do a superb job. They do what they can with what they have.

The current issue of ARKANSAS LIFE magazine has a feature of old Arkansas photos. One is the 1958 intersection of Capital and Main in Little Rock. The east bound Capital vehicles are stopped for the traffic light and the Main Street pedestrians are crossing. There are over a dozen people crossing and you can see the sign of the original Franke's Cafeteria on the south side of Capital. That's the L.R. I knew when I first lived here. What a change
