Little Rock is SO underrated! I live in Seattle and although I like it, it's one of those places that's overrrated. Sure, it's pretty, and sure, there's lots of stuff to do, but Little Rock is also pretty and has some great areas, and deserves to be much more widely recognized for how great it is, as does the state of Arkansas in general.

Thanks for the responses. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought it was underrated. The potential is there in Little Rock. I can see it being the next boom town....

Is there a lot of jobs in West Little Rock? I am trying to pursue my nursing career and am considering moving there from Searcy. How is the crime in that area?

Crime in West Little Rock?
Can't say I've heard of much.
If you're doing nursing, come on down. I'm always seeing ads in the papers for nurses.
I know UAMS and Children's need some. =]
Best of luck!

I lived there most of my life and crime is very rare in the West LR zip codes. You can pick up on that if you read the paper and check the crime reports by zip. 72223 and 72212 rarely even have anything even minor happen in a week. Most of the crime in LR is concentrated in south and southwest LR.

My only concern: finding a job and finding a life partner. I guess I better save up for some annual trips to San Francisco. lol.

Based on this post and others you have made on the forum, it seems as if you believe you are one of the very few lesbians in Arkansas. Can I ask how old you are and how much you get out? The reason I ask is that I have known many gays and lesbians in the state. What field are you looking to work in? There are lots of jobs available in a variety of fields, so unless you are going to pick a career that is very specific that just isn't offered in Arkansas you should be fine.

I moved to Hot Springs. If I had to do it agina I would look at LR. Nice places, things to do. Always something going on on Market st. on saturday. Building the bike paths, bridge projects ect. The Looney bin is a place I go from time to time. Little shops tucked all over the place. Home prices are reasonalbe.

Since that post, I've changed my major to Spanish [going to become a spanish teacher] but then my career was going to be in the environmental science field.
In any case, I'm 18 and I go out quite a bit. I try to go to the clubs at least once or twice a month. What do you call "many"? lol. I'm somewhat specific about the kind of woman I like and I don't even think it's all that bad: intelligent, pretty, has sense of humor, interested in politics, going somewhere with her life (in college, out of college with their career, in graduate school), and someone where I don't have to pay for all the dates or pick them up all the time for dates. Even if a girl isn't into politics, I can get over that but I don't look to favorably upon those who are my age who are just job hobbing and not in college. If you're going to just work, at least have some kind of stable job.

Fair response Lez. I know the Springdale/Rogers area schools are hot after teachers with ESL/ELL endorsements. That's a great career choice. What colleges are you looking into?
No doubt, you would probably find more LGBT activity in other areas, but I just didn't want you to feel like you were alone. My wife and I are big proponents of LGBT rights. I do understand how it can sometimes seem like the whole state is against you when subjects like Act 1 come up or whe someone whips their bible out on you...but you aren't alone.
I look forward to hearing of you doing well in college. UCA has a great education program, you should give them a look. My wife is enrolled in the Early Childhood program now. Take care!
