That's dangerous talk around here, missy.
Seriously, no matter what area one mentions, someone will come in trashing it. Proclaiming it needs more of *this* and less of *that*, and how there's no vegan food store within walking distance of my condo and they made way better latte's when I lived back over in......
It is what it is.
I like Little Rock. I don't go unless I have to because I decided concrete and cars were not how I wanted to spend my life, but I always enjoy myself while I'm there. It has it's beautiful parts, and it has it's gray stark reality.
I'm glad you like what you see, and you'll have no shortage of people who are well acquainted with the area to give you suggestions of where to go and what to do.
You'll do good.

Thanks jenni-b. And im a dude RogMar..lol...I know my post sounded like a lil school girl..hahahaha..but was just really impressed by Little Rock. Was worried at first but after visiting I cant wait to get down there now and im excitied...plus it was like 3am and I had been up doing homework all night so I was kinda out of it..lol.
As far as people always finding things wrong, I think some people are always gonna find fault with places they live, and just focus on the bad or what a city doesnt have. Happens a lot here in St.Louis to..even with the great museum's, Forrest Park, sweet ass zoo and science center, casinos, all the clubs and bars, shopping, pro sports teams..etc. Like I said I love St.Louis but think im gonna be just as happy in Little Rock. You can always find stuff to do and if ya dont like a part of town then just dont go back in that part of town..lol...at least thats the way i look at it.

Little Rock might keep you busy for a Little While, but don't expect to have something to do at all times. It gets rather sleepy quite a bit.
Not a horrible town, just don't expect too much from it.

Well.....!!
Dude!!
My apologies, that's the second gender faux pas I've made on this forum.
Guess my eyesight ain't what it used to be.
I'm familiar with St. Louis, to a point, and have spent time in various districtsand venues there. Some incredible architecture, ethnic foods, and history.
Some focus, that you'll understand......
My son works in international finance. He's what a lot of folks consider, "big time". Lives in Europe, has apartments in several countries, enough frequent flyer miles for a few trips to the moon....ya get the idea.
So, a few years ago, he's going to fly in and take his friends to a ball game in St. Louis. he asks me, "You've been there, where can we go to party?"
It's a weekend night, so I tell him, "Start at LaClede's Landing, and go from there".
I talk to him afterwards, ask him how it went, and he rambles on about LaCledes being the *slowest* place he's ever been to blah-blah.
Time goes on, and last year he gets brave enough to fly in and visit me. When he announces that, I tell him, "Whoa, hoss. If you think LaClede's was slow, this place is going 90 mph in reverse".
I mean, this ain't Amsterdam, or Rota, or Munich, this is 15 miles from a paved road.
He came, and when he recovered his breath, I told him, "It's views, wildlife, and quiet. That's it".
Took him two days to get in the beat, but after that he was astounded. He enjoyed it. He's coming back.
He simply had to learn to enjoy that which was on his plate at the moment, and not wish for chicken when it's steak that sits before you.
I think you'll enjoy the experience.

I've lived in Little Rock, out in WLR, for almost 2 years now coming from living in Cleveland for 4 years and before that living in Charlotte the rest of my life.
I have to say I was worried about living here at first, but it's nice enough. I would imagine this would be an ok place to raise a family but, for a young single person like myself Little Rock really doesn't deliver. Whenever I would have friends visit from out of state I would usually run out of things to do with them besides eating out and even that is pretty limited.
I am moving back to Charlotte because of work next month and I will view my time in Little Rock as being an interesting time, but I don't think I would ever want to live here again. Visit maybe.
Just my two cents.

Agree completely. Little Rock can be great for raising a family but is horrible and depressing for a young single person. Where you are in life when you move to Little Rock is really what will determine if you will like it or not. NWA is a little more young friendly because of the college, but it still doesn't match up to what real urban areas offer. I am 23 now, and I hope to not be living here when i am 26.

Yeah, Little Rock definitely isn't a singles mecca. It's a place you go to when you're married, have kids, etc. but still want to live in what's considered "urban."
It could be worse though, we could be living in Cabot, Conway, Benton, etc which virtually have no night life so to speak.

Im 28 and single but I guess Im not that worried about being bored there. I don't really plan on having that much free time...will be in school and clinicals 4 days a week and then will be studying and working on weekends so doesnt leave much time for other stuff.
Plus I grew up in southeast Missouri on my families farm..and our town only has 4000 people so I have lived in a much much much smaller place than Little Rock..lol. As soon as I graduated I was outta there...lived in Nashville, TN for a year and then in St.Louis for the past 8 years, so yeah I have lived in cities a lot bigger than Little Rock but after growing up where I did, I can usually always find a way to have fun in a city..lol. I love to golf and hang out on lakes so may bring down a jet ski or something. Seems like the river is calm enough to go out on and I know there are some golf courses down there. And if I do end up having more free time than I thought, well then I'll just holla at yall and we can party...lol.

Here's a generality I've observed (both in person and on this board) --
If you're from a smaller place, LR is going to seem quite urban and busy.
If you're from a bigger place, not so much.
LR has significantly more to do than many Southern cities with comparable populations -- think Jackson MS, Mobile AL, Springfield MO.
LR has significantly less to do than larger cities in the region -- Memphis, Nashville, St. Louis, New Orleans.
For some people, it works. For others, it doesn't. Some insist on staying in a place where they're miserable and proclaiming their misery constantly. Some think life is too short for that. You find all kinds here.
