Where to stop between Little Rock-Texarkana
In a couple of weeks I'm gonna be driving a U-Haul truck from St. Louis to San Antonio, TX.
Based on my calculations,
we should be stopping somewhere between Little Rock and Texarkana.
What town do you recommend for us to stop to spend the night and nobody will mess with our U-haul truck or our cars.
Any towns that I should avoid?
BTW, I'm darkskin hispanic (look a little like Obama) and my wife is white blonde.
Thanks for the help.

Well, Malvern, Arkadelphia and Hope are right on the interstate. Arkadelphia is a two-college town (one a Christian college, the other a liberal arts college). Malvern has hotels and a Walmart supercenter right there off the interstate. Don't know much about Hope.

I would stop in Arkadelphia (Caddo Valley) myself. Quite a few hotels/motels and gas stations immediately off the interstate with a couple of places to eat nearby. Plus Arkadelphia is almost exactly in between the two. If you stop there I would avoid the Days Inn, but that is just my opinion.

I live in Texarkana. There are 1000's of hotels and motels not to mention resturants on State Line. Ave. The different color issue is no big deal. My husband and I don't have a problem. If you stop here, take the state line Ave. exit.

I would agree with J Arp ... Arkadelphia is place to stop ... IF ... you were picking between Little Rock and Texarkana. If you are coming from St Louis, I would expect that it would be straight down 55 to Memphis, 40 to Little Rock to 440, 440 to 30, and then 30 to Texarkana (Dallas and onwards). Of which, the tricky spots will be coming into Little Rock crossing over the river into Downtown Little Rock, and hitting 440 to 30. Once you are on 30, it's smooth sailing to Texarkana.
Little Rock - Normal City traffic ... not like big City but still you will find traffic. Depending on the time, it could be congested inside city limits with rush hour traffic. It's not like St Louis, KC, or any BIG city traffic. But around the down town area coming in over North Little Rock into Downtown can get busy.
Here is the breakdown outside of Little Rock to Texarkana ...
- Bryant ... I would just say stay in Little Rock by this point.
- Benton is really the start of the Little Rock Metro area ... but from here to Texarkana is going to be Rural again in terms of Hwy stops, Scenery, and commercial stops.
- Malvern would be a option but it's off the Hwy
** Arkadelphia **
- Gum Springs is really Arkadelphia
- Prescott does not have any real places to stop
- Gurdon is off the hwy
- Hope is close to Texarkana but it has a couple places to stop
- Texarkana
So if you wanted to stop outside of Little Rock Traffic, Arkadephia is your place. Did want to mention that there are a couple of road side rest stops between Little Rock and Texarkana as well.

You will be fine in Caddo Valley and anywhere else most likely. You shoudn't have any trouble finding a room either, but the Days Inn is probably the worst. As a matter of fact,I think it might be an America's Best Value Inn or something like that now. Geez, I drove right by it tonight too. How observant!
One piece of advice: You can get gasoline a lot cheaper on either side of Arkadelphia/Clark County!
Go for the Pig Pit or Fish Net for some local flavor, and TaMolly's is pretty decent also.

I am from the Hope area and I can tell you that Prescott has 2 big gas stops and a hotel. It is right off the exit and low traffic, free internet etc. If you want to go on 13 miles to Hope great hotels right off the 2nd exit. Their will be a Walmart Supercenter and 6 hotels. Good luck I just did the Valdosta, GA to Lawton, Oklahoma in Budget truck with 3 kids and a cat, pulling a car so I feel for you!
