Default Apple picking in Little Rock area

We moved to the Little Rock area about 6 months ago. Is there anywhere to pick apples near Little Rock? I would love to take the children to pick their own apples...that is something we did not have in GA. Thank you!

wish I could find someplace here in NWA to pick as well...I expected we would so am a little disappointed. In fact I think my biggest disappointment so far has been finding honest, farm raised produce. NOt the stuff at the side of the road that has, obviously been purchased wholesale. Yes, the farmers markets work well, buy I am used to buying in large quantities so I can can for the winter. I could always find fresh veggies and fruits in Texas and NM.

Right now it is time for apples and apple butter, but not at the store prices.

Nita, I don't know if you can still pick for yourself, but go down to Springdale to Van Zandt's Orchard for apples and peaches. Also, if you head up towards Springfield, one of the towns along there just had their big apple festival. There are several orchards that sell along there. Lincoln used to be the big place to get apples in Northwest Arkansas, but many of the growers there sold when their land became so valuable. There still might be some apple places, though. This weekend it's supposed to be beautiful, it might be worth the drive alone to make a run to Lincoln and Prairie Grove.

OP, you might ask some of the folks at River Market or Argenta Market or the businesses that support the independent growers where to go. I know there was an orchard way out Stagecoach or Col. Glenn at one time, but that was years ago. I'd bet the folks in Argenta could put you in contact with someone - they're a little more into the organic growing and are truly all smaller mom and pop type enterprises.

There is a place in Guy (Battle's Cadron Crest Orchard) where you can pick Apples/Peaches. Guy is around Greenbriar which is about 30 minutes out of LR. My grandparents go there a few times per year to get apples and peaches.

Battle's orchard closed for the season earlier this month. Their store on Hwy 65 north of Greenbrier is open, though.

I saw some great looking Arkansas black apples at the LR River Market last weekend. Yum.
