I am looking to move to Little Rock/NLR area soon, and would like to know about good places to live and crime. I saw an apartment on 801 S Rodney Parham- Briarwood. I also saw an apartment- Overbrook- in NLR on JFK. Anyone know how these neighborhoods are in terms of crime, people, etc...? Or does anyone have any suggestions of a good place (up to about 750 in rent, 2 bedroom, accept cats) to live in LR or NLR? Thanks!

As far as pets, can't help ya - unless Briarwood has greatly upgraded, I'd keep looking. It's known for being a fairly transient complex and is right on top of I-630 and Rodney Parham Rd., which means the traffic is horrific most of the time.

Do you (or anyone) know what areas of Little Rock have crime problems- i.e.- what areas should be avoided?

We should make a sticky about this since everybody asks it, but mostly areas south of I-630 and east of University. There is also some shady areas in southwest Little Rock out by Baseline and I-30. If you want to be extra safe, just stay out of anywhere south of I-630 and east of I-430.

There are a few apartment complexes in West Little Rock that I would avoid like the plague.

If you have a list of addresses or neighborhoods, you can post those, and those of us who live (or have lived) in LR can give you a better analysis.

I agree with Sam that Briarwood is not the best.

Can you list these apartment complexes? If not, any chance of PM'ing them. I am currently looking at West Little Rock too and do not want to sign a lease for a place that looks fine in the daytime but turns out to be a different place at night.

I am using the criteria mentioned elsewhere on this forum of looking east of 430.

I am a newcomer to the area so any advice is greatly appreciated.

I second the question about which apartment complexes to avoid. And also knowing which ones people have stayed in that are good would be really helpful, too. (Reasons would be really nice, too.) Thanks for all of your help!

Generalities - I'd stay away from the ones around Rodney Parham and Green Mountain. Avoid Reservoir Rd. Probably the further west, the better...stay on the north side of 630 and at least west of University. In my mind, a complex is only as good as the area in which it is located with regard to crime.
