West 17th Street in North Little Rock. It's right near the tracks, but I've lived near railroad tracks before and the noise doesn't bother me.
The immediate neighborhood looks a little rundown, it's very urban, and there are some nicer neighborhoods in the immediate vicinity.

I just want to know it's safe, and don't care about the race or ethnicity of my neighbors, if anyone thinks that will deter me, so don't bother mentioning it. I'm looking from a safety standpoint. I've heard some good things about the NLR schools too. It's in my price range, and it's been remodeled.

I'm going to look at it next week. Advice?

If you have an alarm system, I'd recommend it.
I live in NLR and though you wouldn't have to worry about getting mugged or shot at...burglaries can and do happen. We've been lucky enough not to have ever been robbed but I have a friend who lives a mile down the street and she's been robbed about two or three times.

I agree that the NLR schools are pretty good. I only know of their high schools and one year of middle schools. I have plenty of friends who went through the NLR system their whole life and are doing well academically at good colleges.

I guess I'm fortunate that I don't have much worth taking. No plasma TV's or high dollar jewelry here.

My BF lives in Maumelle, but I'm not from the area and I always like to get local opinions. The house is really cute, and it's been on the market for a while. I'm hoping to get a good deal on it.

At any rate, thanks for chiming in. I really appreciate it.

My friend didn't have much worth taking but they took that too. She also has two big dogs and the dogs didn't deter them.
It all depends on where you live. Plus you might want to have good relationships with your neighbors. Our neighbor across the street sometimes lets the garage down for us when we forget if she's home and we all look out for each other's houses if one is gone on vacation.

I'd also install some motion sensor lights on your garage/carport/by the front door or side of the house.

Where on West 17th? Some areas on that street would be pretty sketchy.

I dont think it is the noise of the tracks you need to worry about. MOD CUT: NO SOLICITATION

Thanks, everyone. I'm going to look at the house on Friday and try to get a feel for the neighborhood.

I would appreciate some more opinions.
