Cabot, Bryant, Benton
I think it is finally going to work out where my husband and I move to Central Arkansas. We are super excited!!
I do have some housing questions for yall. I will be living alone for the first time ever for six months and I am thinking I might be more comfortable living outside LR. I am from a small town and LR might be too much of an adjustment for me to make alone.
I want to rent an apartment hopefully with utilities included, and efficeny would be fine. But I was wondering if there are any areas I should stay away from in those towns or if it is all pretty safe.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks!!

How old are you and where are you from? Do you have school aged children? Little Rock is pretty much just a large town, so it shouldn't intimidating to small town people like a big city like Dallas or Memphis would be. Benton/Bryant and Cabot are I guess nice places to raise a family but they both leave an icky taste in my mouth. I would suggest not limiting yourself to the small-town suburbs and check out what Little Rock, North Little Rock, Sherwood, and Maumelle have to offer as well. Pretty much the rule of thumb for safety in Little Rock proper is anywhere east of I-430, stay north of I-630. Even then, there are plenty of nice places to be found south of I-630.

I am 26, no children. I am just going to be without my husband for 6 months and i think living in a relatively smaller area would be better for me. I am a chicken!

I wouldn't choose any of those, especially not Cabot. Conway, maybe.

Since you have no children, the school district isn't much of a factor in your decision, so I see no reason why you should have to live outside of Pulaski County. Look at Sherwood, Maumelle, or some North Little Rock neighborhoods if you just want to avoid the congestion of Little Rock proper.

DO NOT MOVE TO CABOT!!!!!!!!! I live there now and the roads are made for 1.5 cars to be going in each direction. I feel that everyone is extremely racist here. I am moving to atlanta and Cabot is not an area you want to raise your kids in or want to live in.
Little Rock isn't that big. I think you'd fit in in Little Rock, NLR, or Maumelle more likely.
Benton and Bryant: same story as cabot.
I am moving to Atlanta and to me that is huge (being from Memphis)!

Please do not listen to these anti-cabot people. Ive lived in Cabot for years and was an officer in this county and also a medic currently around this area and I can tell you from an inside perspective, compared to Little Rock and immediate surrounding areas (which I also worked the streets of for many years) and saw first hand the crime, Cabot is a WONDERFUL community especially for a single female. I'm not saying all of Little Rock is bad. I'm just saying that after years of being exposed to some of the worst atrocities there I'm still in therapy! My husband is an officer in Jacksonville and although our house payment is pretty expensive, you couldnt offer to pay my husband to live in Jacksonville.
