Might be moving to Conway area.
Hi,
I am from Wisconsin and am coming to Conway next week for a job interview. I am excited about possibly moving to Arkansas, it looks pretty cool and I like the right of ccw. I want to know what towns would be good to live in the Conway area. I think Greenbrier would be the most like where I live now in size. The only concern I have is my wife is Filipino. Will that be a problem in this area? We are both conservative and like hunting.
Thanks for the help.
*Note - not trying to sound like a yankee who thinks everyone in the south is racist, just don't want any trouble.*

Heh...........
Try this....Natutuwa akong makilala kayo,....y'all.
As long as you speak Tagalog with a southern accent, yer in.
I remember hunting monkey with some Filipinos north of Olongapo. It was a good time. I've still got the butterfly knife they gave me.
The hunting's good.
The weather's warm.
Somewhere you can find San Miguel.
Come on down and pull up a chair.

There's a fairly large Filipino population in Little Rock, and a lot of them gather at the Philam Gourmet on Friday nights. It's a great party atmosphere, and great food too!
Unfortunately I don't know much about Greenbrier except that it is pretty, and a bit of a speed trap.

I just got back home last night. Everyone I met on the trip (TN & AR) was very nice. Conway seems pretty nice. I am planning on moving down pending the offer. Thanks for the help and insight!

Conway's a very diverse and liberal place for race relations, as far as Arkansas standards go. The university (I just graduated from there) plays a large role in that. There's a larger Asian population in Conway (Filipino, Indian, Chinese, etc.) than most parts of Arkansas.
Three of my professors last year graduated from UW-Madison, so you won't be the only Wisconsin transplant, either.
Another place for you to consider if you're looking for a small town near Conway is Vilonia. Greenbrier and Vilonia essentially the same type of town from my experiences the past few years.

MKUSMC, I lived in Vilonia for several years and loved it. You are going to like Conway. Now mind ya that it has been years since i have been there, but my bgf has told me it hasn't changed much. My little town is quiet with a little school, but you would have to go to town to buy your groceries.

Hello, good luck with the interview. I live in Conway and have now for almost 3 years. I am curious who you interviewed with. I was born and raised in Springdale AR in the north west corner. My wife and I moved to Conway for a job with Acxiom. The job was fine, but be forewarned that I have discovered that they (acxiom) seem to hire and then layoff people every couple of years. Everyone told us this after she accepted the offer and we moved here. Sure enough, after 18 months, she was part of a lay off and I have seen them hire and fire since then too.
Sorry to discourage you if I did, but I would have liked to have known that info first.
As far as the area goes though, it is very nice. Still a small enough of a town to be easy to go anywhere and big enough to have access to some better places in town. Little Rock is about 30 min away and you can find about whatever you want there if you want shopping and etc.
Good luck.

Moving
Well I took the job! I will be moving down in August. The company is SFI, looks like a great place and pretty stable. Thanks for the help!

Hey MKUSMC, what town in Wisconsin are you from. My wife is from Ladysmith and she loves it here in Arkansas.
