Unfortunately, I've been out of the loop and just heard about this yesterday. Work and all keeps me busy. I wish they had given us a little more notice. On some of the other forums I visit, I heard there is a large contingent of people from the Virginia Citizen's Defense League going.

We working poor folks will be hard at work on Thursday, hoping nothing bad happens to us necessitating a trip to the emergency room that will undoubtedly bankrupt us. If I miss work Thursday (just ONE day), I won't be able to pay all my bills this month.
But for those of you who have the luxury of being able to not work Thursday and to afford travel all the way to DC and back for a silly anti-poor people rally -- yall have fun.

If anyone thinks the proposed healthcare legislation will result in lower out-of-pocket expenses for treatment and exams, they're delusional.

Zacto mundo.
We've got to make a little more money to pay for the folks that *cannot* be denied insurance coverage and kick $40 a month into the "single payer" insurance plan.
"OK, I pay my $40 a month, and you'll pay all the bills for my C.O.P.D., back pain, pregnancy, and cancer treatments?"
"You betcha!"

If you are going, have a safe trip...If not, we all need to pray for those who are.

Thanks Nita. I wanted to go but my sister decided not to. I wanted to drive up with her. Do you ever think about going to DC for things like this?
I do hope to make a trip in the near future with my 15 yr old. I want her to see the Big house where she will help send the next President and Vice President too. She will get to vote in the next Presidential election.

I dont look forward to anything like this because I at least know what my costs are now. The companies will drop the employees like hot potatoes so they can quit paying for the insurance. I dont relish paying close to a $1000 a month for a family of 3. I have read somewhere and not sure where the single people will be paying about $400 a month as well.
I am very concerned. I don't know many if at all ANY people who can pay $1000 a month for insurance for a family and 400$ for a single person.
This extra money can be a house payment, groceries, car payment and in some cases child support for a lot of people. This is a nightmare.

I will not be going to DC this time. I have made many trips there. What a beautiful place with a lot of history! I believe if someone feels strongly about a cause/issue, to support this, and can spare the time and money to go, that's spectacular!!!
