Crime rate in Little Rock.
HI,
Me and my spouse are planning to move to little rock,Ak at the end of this year, I am aware the place is small & has nice friendly people, but I had a few apprehensions,
my question:
1. Is little rock, Ak a very unsafe place? I need an honest opinion from the residents. I heard it has a high crime rate.
I stay in FL currently, & I am used to staying in Condominiums,
2. Does little rock, AK has condominiums with good amenities or is mainly comprised of houses?
I really appreciate any input.

I’ve lived in Little Rock for the last 10 years. It does seem that Little Rock is experiencing an upswing of crime at the moment. Currently the last few months has seen a surge of crime not only in Little Rock but around the central Arkansas area. Larceny seems to be the worst crime. I believe we are 5th in the nation for cities under 500K. I recently just purchased a house in hillcrest, an upscale area of town, but was robbed shortly after moving in. It was my first burglary, so I may be a bit jaded Unfortunately Little Rock is pretty racially divided, with the whites on one side of town and the blacks on the other, divided by an interstate. It’s a poor southern state, so high crime is not a surprise. Comparatively Northwest Arkansas seems to be doing fairly well, is richer, and seems to be enjoying moderate growth.
We have a few condos around the area. Quapaw Tower is fairly cheap. An older building, 1967, that has condos from 110k – 250k or so. I lived there for a time and it was safe and quiet. A new condo building (300 East Third) is close to the rivermarket with condo’s running from 245K plus. There are a few more condo buildings around the area. There is a lot of demand for condos (high-rises) at the moment but with little to choose from. This should get better in the next couple of years as more condos are built.

Thanks! timn 420, I'm little scared after reading the incidence of robbery, thats really unfortunate. I'm an asian & doctor by profession, I want to stay at a place which is safe and beautiful, do you think staying in condos in downtown is safe or shall I look for something in suburbs like Maumelle
or Conway? Thanks!

Well, that's kind of a crummy thing to say....Little Rock has experienced tremendous growth - it has it's share of problems, just like any other urban sprawl city - but I think it's pretty charming, especially with all of the downtown renovation and the River Market - although Bill Clinton's library is lovely on the inside, it looks like a mobile home on the river....
To the OP...there is crime. It is not "horrible" - it is what it is. The murder rate is inordinately high because the low-lifes tend to kill each other off....whatcha gonna do about that? Head up, eyes open....
