Little Rock elementary schools
Does anyone know anything about McDermott Elementary? I'm looking at houses in that area but I don't know much about the school.
Also, which public elementary schools should I avoid?

Little Rock school system is the pits.
something like 16 superintendants in the last 30 years, a revolving door,
really, don't go there

The only schools in the Little Rock School District that I would even consider sending my kids to are the magnet schools that tend to do much better than the other schools in that district. My top suggestions to you are to either find a private school or move to an area outside of the LRSD.

I used to live near McDermott and knew teachers there. My spouse was a teacher for many years in the district, the last at Williams magnet, perhaps the premier school in the district. Even there, a few years back, a 5th grader threatened to cut her up and put her in a freezer. That stuff is commonplace.
Make your own choices, but I'd not ever let my kids go to a Little Rock public school. Either go private, or live in a suburb. Good luck

Forest Park Elementary on N. Tyler is a good elementary school but you will have to fight to get a place there for all the people lying about where they live to get their kid in. Past that, I agree - go private, certainly for middle school and most likely for high school.

Hi,
my wife is a 3rd grade school teacher in the Little Rock School District. She keeps me up to date on all of the schools. (good and bad) If you are wanting to live in Central Little Rock, then most parents are wanting their kids to go to Jefferson Elementary or Forrest Park Elementary (which are both public elementary schools in Little Rock School District). The middle schools are also good. Most families moving to West Little Rock are wanting their kids to go to Baker Elementary it seems like. I've also heard good things about Terry Elementary. I have also had many people tell me to stay away from Pulaski County School District...which is different from Little Rock School District. If you need any more information, you can email me at no personal info please - use the DM Feature. As far as the magnet schools go, I would not necessarily send my kids their just because it's a magnet school. I would do extensive research first. I hope this helps and I look forward to hearing from you!
Thanks!

Regarding Baker Elementary...
I mentioned that I heard that Baker Elementary was really good. I have heard that, but it is in the Pulaski County School District and I haven't heard good things about the Pulaski County School District. (hope it's not too confusing).
Hope I could help!
