Default Any info on Jacksonville??

My boyfriend just moved back home to Jacksonville, and I can't even find it on the map! I am going out to visit him next week and I really need to know what to expect. I understand the humidity is bad and the bugs are horrible..I am a New York City girl by heart, but I have lived in Arizona for the past 12 years and I love it. So I am very much used to the dry heat and can stand 112 degrees in the shade...My main concern is what are the people like there? My boyfriend seems to have turned into a full blown redneck since he moved back..and I have to admit I am a bit worried about fitting in. Any advice or info would be great!

Is he Air Force?

Jacksonville is just NE of NLR/Sherwood. Mapquest it and you will find it.

It is largely Air Force and sort of runs into Sherwood - to the NE is Cabot, a very rapidly growing community. The people tend to be a mixture since they are armed forces and transient by nature, but there's a goodly portion of the population that have lived in that area for years. You're not too far from McCain Mall in N. Little Rock - there's a nice Wal Mart and other shopping in Jacksonville but most people will go on into NLR for a real shopping or dining experience.

It is humid. I don't know that the bugs here are any worse than anywhere else, they are just different than AZ bugs. Mosquitos - yes. Full blow redneck is considered a badge of honor. I like him already.

For those that want to know about J'ville. For the most part it is a quite laid back place to live. I just would not put my child in anything that has to do with the city park employees. They act as though you should be honor if they give you the time of day for you complaint. The head person is very rude and does not show much when it comes to people skills. The director of the pool never remembers what she said from one minute to the next and is also rude to customers and employees. For myself I would rather put my child a sport in Cabot or Sherwood before dealing with Jacksonville.

Jacksonville is a cozy middle-class suburban town with a population of approximately 30,000. It is home of the Little Rock Air Force Base. Schools are in the Pulaski County Special School District (why do they not drop the "special" from that name?). The only problem I have with Jacksonville is that there are way too many trailor parks spread out through-out the city! No offense to people that live in trailors, but they look so trashy. I don't see how people sell their houses when they live beside a bunch of trailors.
