Default Anybody know anything about Hendrix Village in Conway?

My husband and I were visiting Conway this past weekend and came across Hendrix Village. We love that style house and haven't seen any developments (mixed use planned communities) like that around LR. Does anyone have any info on it besides the glowing sales pitch? Is the commute to Searcy through Vilonia a highway drive or country roads through towns (Vilonia, etc.)? We also liked the look of Conway. Thanks for any insight.

I wouldn't want to commute to Searcy from Conway. That's an hour's drive at best. From Conway, you would take Hwy 64 through Vilonia to Beebe. Hwy 64 alternates between 4 lanes and 2 lanes. From Beebe, you would take Hwy 67/167 north to Searcy. I think it's four lanes from Beebe to Searcy.

The Village at Hendrix is a new urbanist development, meaning it will have a mix of residential, commercial, and office uses. The neighborhood will include single-family houses, live-work units, and apartments. When fully developed, residents will be able to walk out their front doors and stroll a few hundred feet to a coffee shop, bookstore, cafe, etc. It's going to be a great development. You can go to dpz.com to see similar developments conceptualized by the same design firm.

I'm not sure what your budget is, but the prices on the homes at the Village have crept up gradually since the project was first designed. Most of the single-family homes are priced at or above 250k, which is pretty expensive for Conway and Central Arkansas.

I know that its a huge waste of money and a corporate scheme concocted by the Board of Trustees.

Thanks for your answers. We've visited several planned communities throughout the south, and for some reason, that style house (traditional, bungalow, cottage) is always more expensive than a grander transitional style house. Maybe it's value pricing. I know that if you like that style, it has an emotional appeal as well as an aesthetic that seems so homey.
I wonder if there are any bungalow-type communities closer to Searcy?

Is there more than one Hendrix Village? I talked to a Hendrix student today and she said it is on campus and is for Hendrix students. She also said the first floors are for commercial and the upper floors are for students, so, as stated above, everything needed is within walking distance.

There are two buildings within the Village at Hendrix that have apartments for Hendrix students. Those buildings are part of a much larger development that includes single-family houses.
