Default Good local guitar stores in london?

Hello everyone!

First of all, I'm Thomas, a student from germany and I'm really excited about a trip to London with my English honor class (or advanced course, or whatever you call it correctly in english) next month.

Luckily, we'll have some free time in the evenings/afternoons and I really want to check out the local music stores for instruments and guitar stuff! What I think of are rather "smaller" shops though, I can buy the big companies' guitars and accessories everywhere and I'm not really looking for great deals or anything, I'm just interested in meeting some nice salesmen and talking a bit about guitars and music and maybe pick up some small things on my way out!

Does anybody know some of these smaller, local guitar (or music instrument-) stores? We'll be staying in the "Majestic Hotel" in 160 Cromwell Road so everything that's reachable by foot in about half an hour or a bit more, or, in 3-4 bus stations would be nice!

If you've seen a shop in that direction, just give it right to me, I'm excited to hear everything about that!

Best regards,
Thomas

I'd recommend Denmark Street in Camden. It's known worldwide and is a must-visit to any music lover in London, it's a historically important street in the history of British music. As a keyboardist, I've been there a couple of times. Most of the shops are guitar shops, and there is a drum shop and a couple of keyboard/music tech shops...there aren't that many shops either...its a short road. It's in a cool area and there are many nice restaurants and shops nearby.

here is more information on it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denmark_Street
it should take you around 40 minutes by bus or tube.

Cool! That sounds really interesting, going to check it out. Thanks!

If there's anything else, I'd love to hear that too, of course!

Just to avoid confusion, should you try to take the tube or bus to Camden to find Denmark street, you'll be about 2 miles away. Better off taking a tube or bus to Leicester Square!

I haven't thought about actually getting there but thanks. Leicester Square, got it!
