Thinking of buying a flat in Hackney.. how safe?
Hi,
I am currently living near Essex Road in East London - love the area but its getting to be very pricey. I am considering buying a small apartment (pref new constructions) in the area between Haggeston and London Fields (near the Regent's Canal).
I know Hackney gets a bad reputation and these areas technically fall into the burrow of Hackney. Just wanted to get the latest view on where its safe area. I am a single guy in early 30s.
Any other areas around there that I should be looking at?
Thanks,
George

Good luck with the apartment hunting, but last time I looked rabbits live in a burrow. Maybe it's safer underground.

That was exactly my stomping ground when I was in London.
I would say that area of Hackney is as safe as any inner city area in London - I don't think there's much of a difference between the Regent's Canal area and the Essex Road.

Do you actually live in Essex Road? If you do, there would be no reason to be asking as Essex Road is practically within walking distance of Hackney. In fact Haggerston is your closest point of Hackney.
