London is a HUGE city and there are dozens of cinemas. You might want to try narrowing down your field a bit. Eg; what part of London will you be staying in? What kind of movies do you like (blockbusters, independent, classics)?

Leicester Square is probably the most (in)famous cinema location in town. It's where the premieres happen.

dont matter where. dont know where I will be staying at (if I vacation in London in 2013)

I am a big blockbuster movies fan. okay with indie films, but more into big name movies to see.

price for instance is a good question. (i.e. the cheapest)

I would suggest either the BFI IMAX on the South Bank.

or the Empire and Odeon cinemas @ Leicester Square. Yes,they're both expensive, but they're both cinemas where World Premieres are being held regularly, and as such both have fantastic screens and bombastic sound. You certainly get what you pay for!

EMPIRE CINEMAS Cinemainfo for Leicester Square

ODEON London - Leicester Square London Cinema - View Listings and Book London Cinema Tickets Now!

basically if I want a special cinema experience those are the theatres I go to!

Cheap seats in central London try the Prince Charles:

Prince Charles Cinema, Leicester Sq. London's Best Value Cinema

(not nearly as cheap as in the past, but still less than other places on Leicester Square)

If you fancy a trip down south a few miles, try Peckham Multiplex (10 minute train ride from London Bridge), where all tickets are £5:

Latest Film Releases, Film Showtimes

(It's an independent cinema but mostly shows blockbusters)

For a more unusual experience, try Secret Cinema:

SECRET CINEMA. Tell no one.

Obviously go to a generic multiplex if you must, but they're the same the world over. You could also try one of London's countless film festivals (too many to list, just google), or film clubs, such as those listed here:

10 of the best alternative film clubs in London | Things to do in London - The Cultural Exposť

(excuse the cringy site)

Most people in London will know what a 'movie theater' is, but you might get the occasional odd look - it's called a 'cinema' here.
