I would one day really like to visit London...along with the rest of the world lol. Anyone want to say how they enjoyed their trip there?

Cool, resplendent, booming, sophisticated, dazzling, eclectic, exciting, stimulating, relaxing, modern, historic.

London is all of these and more. Hope you have a truly wonderful time, if you ever get a chance to visit.

I have been to London 3 times over a 30 year period. My first trip was as a teenager with my family, then I have gone back twice as an adult. My friends and I are considering another trip in 2015.

I love London. It is one of my favorite all time cities. In my experience, you can base out of one hotel room and have amazing things to do and see in London for weeks.

Here are some of my favorite things to do in London.

The very touristy but fun double decker bus tour (sometimes with free Thames river cruise)
The Tower of London (and Crown Jewels)
The absolutely not cheesy Westminster Abbey
The London Walks program (pick one, they are all fun - but my favorite is the Thames Pub Crawl with Dave, the Beetles walk is also very cool)
The very, very cool museums such as the British Museum as well as the London Museum
The Imperial War College
221b Baker Street (surprisingly fun)
The tube system ("mind the gap")
Hyde Park
The HMS Belfast
The London Eye
Ok, I will add Harods for all of the shopping addicts out there as well.

I should also mention some of the day trips you can do (while basing out of your single hotel room). I have done all of these.
Windsor Castle
Warrick Castle
Leeds Castle (ok, I like castles, give me a break)
Canterberry
Dover
Stonehenge
Salisbury Cathedral
Bath
I even did a day trip to Cardif Wales which was a good time.

I liked London. For such a huge, important city it feels grand and imposing but also sort of genteel, not the hectic madness of Manhattan (which is still my favourite btw, but they're so different). The many parks and villagey nabes often means you can find a quiet spot. Regent Park is nice, not as visited as Hyde or St. Jame's but if you climb up the hill you have one of the best views in London. Charming gardens, especially in autumn when we went. The Victoria and Albert Museum of Childhood is a gem, not as well known as the big ones but excellent and free. It's near Bethnal green tube.
