Moving to London (to rent, college, place to live)

Hi guys,

My husband is planning on doing his fellowship at the Imperial College in South Kensington. We will be moving from Australia. I know that South Kensington is a very expensive place to live, can anybody recommend any areas that are around that region that can be easy accessible via the tube stations and that isn't really expensive to rent a flat or house? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The further out you go the cheaper the rents but the more expensive the commute. A good compromise might be Acton Town - Piccadilly Line to South Kensington.

The nearest place where you might have some chance of finding a place at non-too-crazy rent is West Kensington.
