That's amazing - we didn't even get a drop of rain here on the western side of GC. I saw the lightning and heard thunder, but it just barely missed us.
It was a really weird storm, only lasted about 20 minutes at most but it took down trees and utility lines like crazy. I was in Hicksville when it came through going north on Broadway and by the time I got to Jericho Turnpike it had passed!
The safety of the officers is what comes first while standing in the middle of a busy intersection. Only allowing certain directions of travel is safer for the officers and allows a better flow of traffic. There was a major weather event that day and all services were taxed to the limit. Boo Hoo for you that your bus ride was diverted.

Maybe he had to pee or something. Bladder back-up can make a man surly.
The intersection you're talking about... it's pretty easy to cut into the Toys R Us lot and out left that way - the light is probably even faster. I know your bus wouldn't do that but passenger cars can, easily.
Why don't you buy a $100 car or something? We have in the past.

Actually I think it was quicker than that, here in Westbury it lasted 5 minutes, and in another 5 minutes that sun was back out, with the huge storm cloud and bolts to the east.

There was a storm yesterday too? I must've missed that one. Just a brief shower.

Your original post included two examples. My post pertained to both, sorry for the confusion. My point remains the same.
