How is it possible to find a teaching job on Long Island (transfer)

I gave up a great teaching job in San Diego to move to Long Island due to my husband transferring in the Coast Guard.

I have been applying and bringing resumes to every district that I can, and have heard absolutely nothing back from any of them. I have 6 years of experience, and you would think that there was some way to get in with at least one district.

Does anyone have any ideas or any ways that can help me? I cannot go without work due to the high costs of the Island.

Hello Becca. I hate delivering bad news but I think I should relay what Im hearing. I have 4 friends that are trying to get teaching positions here on LI, for 2 years now. Along with them there are another 1,000 people looking for the same job. My friends cannot even find subbing postions anymore. They are all serious thinking of relocating.
With the salary of what the teachers get paid there are very few that leave their positions. And with all the schools pretty much built on LI there just isnt a demand here for more teachers. Its sad but it just the way it is. Good luck to you though. Maybe you will get lucky and get in. Have you thought about NYC schools? I know they need teachers.
