Default information on moving to Long Island-Woodmere

I will be moving next month to Long Island working in Woodmere.
Any suggestions of great places to live?? What about Queens? People have told me about Astoria, but I think it will be too much traffic to get to work each day. I am looking to pay anywhere from $1000 to $1700 in rent.

Also, where is the best place to look for an appartment? craigslist? village voice?? get a real estate broker?

I open to suggestions on Long Island, Queens, or anywhere else. I am a single male.

Thanks!!!!!

If you are a single male (depending upon your age) , I'd suggest Long Beach and other areas close by. The best bet for a nice apartment would probably be a local real estate broker. Astoria, while a great place to live for a single guy, would entail a long, nightmarish commute to Woodmere. Best of luck! With a little perserverance, you'll find a perfect apartment/ place to live. Definitely no shortage of inventory
