Default Shelter Island Ferry Question
Anybody know the average wait time for the Shelter Island Ferry either north our south during commuter time?

All my past experiences for ferries leaving the island during the weekday early am is hardly any waiting if any. My experience is North Ferry. Maybe 20 mins for the next boat if you just miss one going out.
Weekend is a whole other color.

If you take it from the south side it is very quick. It's only about 5 minutes from the south side to shelter island. Greenport is slightly further away. The only thing is that if you head south through Sag Harbor and North Sea, you stand a chance of hitting the mad Hamptons traffic.

Default JFK to Shelter Island
My daughter is flying from the UK this summer to work in Shelter Island. Does anyone know the best way for her to transfer?

Long Island expressway all the way to the end (east) and then you can take either fork (n or s) and take the greenport or north sea ferries.
