Exactly why the economy is screwed up. People who had no business at all buying in affluent neighborhoods did. And it came back to bite them on the ass...
If you say you live in Lawrence people usually think you're either a multi-millionaire or at least upper middle class. They don't think of the ghetto section with the illegal aliens drinking alcohol, peeing everywhere, littering and playing soccer on the community center grounds evenings and weekends.
that part of lawrence is only like 4 blocks long...lawrence ave from the LIRR to mott avenue. thats why not a lot of people really are not aware of it.
and just to add to the thread, valley stream really does get a bad rep from green acres. i never understood why. i mean its a shopping mall, you go there to buy stuff and leave. if you really want an opulent shopping experience, you can always go to saks fifth avenue in the city. a few black or hispanic kids wearing du-rags are really gonna stop you guys from buying a pair of pants in macys?
