Yes, I know I would still like to get some feedback from people that might live in the Wheatley Heights area or are familiar with it-thanks!

I am thinking of moving to Wheatley Heights myself and wonder about the area. Any feedback? How safe is it?

HHH schools are much better but you have to live in Wyndanch (which Wheatley Heights is really a fancy name for). You can find a house in some parts of Melville and have your kids attend HHH. The house will be smaller than a similar priced one in Wheatley Heights but go drive through the areas and think about living in either one....

No.

The Hamlet of Wheatley Heights is separate from the Hamlet of Wyandanch.

Stay north of Main ave for houses closer to Straight Path. When main becomes Coral Springs there's a neighborhood towards left that is pretty decent. It's right by the cemetry and the park over there. Remember, for homes closer to Straight Path, stay north of Main Ave.

Get in your car and drive through Wyandanch and see if you would like to live next to that area. Wheatley Heights abuts Wyandanch as Walter pointed out - and it wouldn't be my choice. I know the school district is good, but I think you will be paying a high price in safety going that route. Friends of mine from long ago moved from Wheatley Heights to Northport and couldn't move fast enough. You know what they say, you get what you pay for, and in this case you're getting a somewhat lousy location in Wheatley Heights (I have to agree with an above poster - might as well be Wyandanch, even though technically it isn't).

I assume you have children and are looking toward public school. HHH is a very good district, and I think you'll be happier overall living away from Wyandanch and in say, Greenlawn? There have got to be some possibilities over in Greenlawn that will fit your budget. If you get in your car and drive around the neighborhoods and take note of houses that look empty, that's how you find bargains - sometimes a house will be empty due to an estate being settled, etc. It will take more work on your part to find something suitable in Greenlawn, but the happiness factor comes into play here. You want to be happy and feel safe wherever it is you live, and I don't think you'll feel so happy and safe in Wyandanch, oops, I mean Wheatley Heights.

And Wheatley Heights is not a fancy name for Wyandanch. Its NOT the same.... you don't have to have a college degree to tell the difference, just drive around the area!
