Looking to relocate from Lindenhurst to Northport. I was hoping someone could tell me the various neighborhood names in Northport and elementary schools zoned for it. I have 2 kids and I am very interested on the perception of the education in this town.

If anyone has information regarding the feel of the town such as the people and any negatives I should be aware of that would be great.

Thanks

PS.
Please do not respond with information regarding names of hamlets, town boundary, etc.,. No need to copy a map from wikipedia/google....

If you live in Northport itself, your kids will be attending either Ocean Avenue elementary or Norwood Elementary. Both are very highly regarded.

Isn't there a big condo development going up in Northport? Units in the $350K range?

Not that I'm aware of. If there were, units would be a lot more then 350.

You should be aware that the majority of places that have a "Northport, NY 11768" mailing address are not in the Village of Northport:

places that have a "Northport, NY 11768" mailing address that are not in the Village of Northport are in the Hamlet of Eatons Neck, the Village of Asharoken, the Hamlet of Fort Salonga, the Hamlet of East Northport and the Hamlet of Centerport.

I have spoken to some people who have lived in the twon and they informed me that 2nd generation try to return with their kids if they can afford it. It seems you can now buy a decent house from the mid 400's - low 500's. Its still expensive but getter than a year ago.

From what the agent told me, the developer is pricing them aggressively to get occupancy up to where the lender is no longer antsy. Maybe then the prices go up to market rate.

No, "port" definitely was in the municipality's name, but I can't remember whether it was Eastport or Northport. And I haven't lived on LI in so long that I can't use the $350K price point as a clue about which community it might be.

Yes. That;s the "starter" price range in Northport. If your not hung up about being in Northport itself, you can do a bit better in East Northport.
