Need input on the Massapequa and Massapequa Park areas. I currently live in Lindenhurst and I like these areas alot. If anyone can give me input on these areas such as the Massapequa School District, neighborhoods and lacal shopping, that would be great.
I am trying to convince my wife to move out of Lindy and she is not yet sold on the Massapequa/Massapequa Park areas and prefers the North Shore or Jersey.

If neither of you like Lindy I would tend to side with your wife and look to the North Shore or NJ. I don't see a big difference in lifestyle living in Lindenhurst vs. Massapequa.
If you don't mind sharing, what are you looking to accomplish with the move?
the north shore is a bit more expensive. the south shores benefits are the great ocean beaches. massapequa is slightly more expensive than the park. but in the park, you have to pay a "village" tax where it will bring to the equal price of pequa. they all use the same school system so all schools are excellent. there is plenty of shopping and tons of things to do for kids (parks, beaches, libraries.) the neighborhoods are great and most are quiet.

yea, they changed the mapping for massapequa park so some parts are "east" now. but those parts that are newly east still go to the massapequa schools. its the old east (east of carmens road) that go to the amityville school district.

Two points:
1. The Village of Massapequa Park (1,398 acres) is smaller than the "Massapequa Park, NY 11762" ZIP Code postal zone (2,120 acres), and there are places that have a "Massapequa Park, NY 11762" mailing address that are in the Hamlet of East Massapequa.
2. Prior to 1990, the eastern-third of what is now the Hamlet of East Massapequa, what you refer to as " ... the old east (east of carmens road) ... ", was the Hamlet of West Amityville, and traveling west to east from the Oyster Bay/Hempstead town line, there was the Hamlet of Massapequa, the Village of Massapequa Park, the Hamlet of East Massapequa and the Hamlet of West Amityville; then in 1990, concomitant with the 1990 Federal Census, the Hamlet of West Amityville was made part of an already existing Hamlet of East Massapequa.
I like the South Shore and the beaches but my wife never really liked our house we live in now. We live in a High Ranch which was really set for a mother daughter arrangement. She wants more of a colonial or split ranch.
Recently we had to go to Massapequa for different reasons and the more I go the better I like it. She isn't sold on the school district and feels that going from Lindy to Massapequa won't be a big improvement, so thats why she prefers the North Shore and towns like Syosset and Plainview and even the Herricks school district which serves various towns (Manhasset, New Hyde Park, Roslyn Heights, Williston Park and Albertson).
From what I can see the town of Massapequa has some really nice areas and the schools are good and from I am told read are better than Lindy.

alot of my friends from massapequa have bought houses in lindenhurst. the school system is the greatest but the town is getting a bit better.

Lindenhurst, too, can be a confusing place as many places with a "Lindenhurst, NY 11757" mailing address are NOT in the Village of Lindenhurst.
