Does anyone have any updated info in the plan to install wi-fi on the trains?
Is it Optimum wi-fi, or are those just advertisements?

question for the commuters, would you consider paying a few bucks a month for wifi access on the trains? Seems like a potential way for the MTA to raise some easy money.

Not in this economy. I'm paying for 3g service via my iphone- thats good enough. Anything requiring the internet can wait for home or at the office. When you had another surcharge, you ASKING for trouble. Start with 5 dollars, then a few years it will 10 dollar etc...

Funny story about loud cellphone conversations. Some woman got on at Hicksville, the first thing she did was get on her cellphone. And boy was her conversation loud. It was so loud that a man shushed her and said "be quiet." Several people clapped after he said it. This really upset the woman but instead of being quiet she ranted to her friend on the other side of the phone about it. And demanded to know who said it. She didn't stop ranting until she got off at Wyandanch. People get a clue, no one want to hear your silly cellphone conversations. BE QUIET! Thank you.

Something similar happened when I was on a train from Penn Station at like 7 AM, a bunch of drunk idiots who where probably drinking all night in the city were being very loud and obnoxious. Somebody yelled a ton of things I can't type here and they shut up and people started clapping.
