We are expecting a baby in a few months and wanted to get some recommendations on a good pediatrician in the Western Nassau area. Please provide suggestions based on personal experience with your infants and toddlers in the Garden City, Mineola, New Hyde Park, Great Neck etc areas.

Thanks!

Check out Park Pediatrics. They're on Jericho Turnpike in Floral Park. Ask for Dr. Morris, he's awesome!

We have 2 children ages 4 and 2 and we take them both to ProHealth pediatrics in New Hyde Park. Theres about 6-7 doctors total in the group. Important things

1. Someone is always oncall at night/weekends
2. Affiliated with LIJ/North Shore
3. Very friendly and take my insurance and also have a larger network of other specialties in the prohealth network.
4. Sick visits same day
5. Nice office
6. Nurse available to speak with on the phone during the day. Example: son is crying or coughing etc.. what do I do....

My son and daughter see Dr. Berger.. I think he is great.. however when my daughter got a little older we switched her to a female pediatrician figuring there would be less awkwardness as she got older....

I like however I cannot compare it to much else.....

I used MDs4Kids when we lived in Garden City - they are in Great Neck - liked them for all the same reasons that are posted above (although they only have 5 MDs and one Physician Assistant). However, if Great Neck is not truly convenient for you, I'd pass on them - their practice has grown huge and the whole staff seems much more harried than they did 10 years ago. They are a great group though and my OB told me many of the doctors at North SHore/LIJ use them.

I know many, many people who use Garden City Pediatrics and really like them. They are on Franklin Ave if I'm not mistaken.

If you think you want a solo practioner there's one on New Hyde Park Road in Garden City (on the west side) - can't think of his name, but I knew a few people who used him and liked him. One switched when he went solo, as not having backup that you know can be a pain when you are a parent. With a group practice you will meet and know all the docs.

When we lived in Queens we used to take the kids to Select Pediatrics on Lakeville in NHP. Loved the docs, liked that they had a blood lab in house, but hated the waiting room. Always had to wait. Not sure if they have done anything about it but thought I would throw it out there in case they are on your list.

ProHealth Prediatrics in New Hyde Park/Lake success.

Dr. Wind is AMAZING ---she is incredibly kid friendly and we are never rushed with her. This is a brand new office where everything is computerized (there's a computer in each exam room)

THere is never a problem getting in touch with her and if she is in the middle of something there is a nurse available to speak to.

Good Luck.

Does anyone have any experience with the "Village Pediatricians" office in Garden City?

^^^ I think I mis-typed above - are they on Franklin Avenue? I know many people who use them happily. I was going to switch to them if we stayed in NY.

Valley Stream Pediatrics. My daughter is almost 19 and has been going since she was born. Great doctors (Dr. Lashley/Dr. Berman)..they have hours 7 days/week. I really can't recommend them enough! www.valleystreampeds.com

We use them, after my wife had an issue with ProHealth (a personality issue, more or less)

While Village Ped. is great due to their longer hours, I'm not a fan of their doctors. Too impersonal for me. If it were up to me, we'd go back to ProHealth.
