2 adults, one four yr. old - $125 a week. No frozen garbage or bags of chips and cookies. Very little cold cuts.

Two adults and we spend $100/week on groceries.

We do buy select cuts of meat about once a week and we both eat lunch at work during the week.

Target's also been pretty good now that they added meats and all that. I avoid Walmart because: one - it's not that close to me, and two - the aggravation from that place is not worth the small difference between Walmart and Target.

Same here, I'd rather lay down on Sunrise than fight the hordes at Walmart.

About $90 a week. Avoiding Waldbaums/Stop N Shop except for sales helps.
Wow, how do you manage that? What are your secrets? And, what type of food do you buy?

2 adults, 2 kids. I'd say we spend about $150 a week. mostly fish/meat, fruit, veggies, etc. some cold cuts. Cheaper in the summer bcs I get a farm share but now I'm stuck with the grocery stores and Costco.

How do you spend $90 for 4 people? I'd be interested to know. I do avoid Waldbaums and S&S except for sales, but fruit and veggies are expensive in winter. We don't eat very many packaged/frozen/prepared foods, though I will buy frozen veggies if the fresh selection is lacking.

Where did you find a farm share? I have been interested in doing this for awhile, but did not think there were options on Long Island.

We are a family of 4, 2 adults a 3 year old and a 3 month old.

We spend about 100-125/week on average shopping mainly the produce/meats/dairy aisles, the veggie section of the frozen section (and ice cream LOL).

Golden Earthworm Organic Farm - Home

I have done it the past few years. You get a lot of stuff and it's really good if you eat everything (kale, chard, etc). If you are picky then it's probably not a good value. I also do the fruit share. Have done it for several years now.

There is also Garden of Eve. I have not gotten anything from them recently, but back (5+ years ago) their CSA was not as good a value, though they had amazing tomatoes.
