Default Good nursery schools in/near Elwood, Long Island

My husband and I are bidding on a house in Elwood "E" section that technically has an East Northport address. I need to register my 2 year old for nursery 3 school in September but I don't want to pick out of the yellow pages. Can anyone recommend a good nursery school around that area? I guess it could be Greenlawn, Elwood or E. Northport within 10 to 15 minute drive.

My daughter is in the Elwood SD and she is using Rainbow Chimes on Broadway in Huntington (bordering Greenlawn).
Here's a link to their site: Welcome to the Rainbow Chimes

My granddaughter has attended for over two years now. If you have any specific questions, just send me a DM.

Elke

There is Magic Circle in East Northport, been in operation for over 35 years. Allow parents to participate if they want to keep costs down...

Do your homework about the future of Elwood School District. They may be shutting down and area schools are being asked to absorb the students. Doesn't necessarily mean its a bad thing, just be sure to do your research now while you are still in the position to make or change your decision. Good luck with your bid!

Wow. What an ignorant post. Where to begin? There has not been any discussion about Elwood "shutting down". Rather, the district is exploring consolidation with other districts. I'd be more concerned with a district like Northport who stands to lose upwards of 40% of its revenue if LIPA wins its tax assessment battle.

The Huntington YMCA is fantastic! Their 2 year old program is very sensitive to the needs of that age group. Your tuition is affordable and you get a lot for your dollar.

When your child goes into the 3's and 4's you get even more for your tuition - swimming for one session, fitness with certified Y instructors, arts in ed programs brought into the school, certified teachers, state certified buildings, a very caring and loving staff and director who have years of experience as well as getting continual training, staff CPR and First Aid certified... on and on.

It's not a long trip from Elwood, there have been several families from there who have gone to the Y for preschool.

Registration for members starts on Monday January 17th. New members can register starting Monday January 24th. Come in ahead of time to get a tour while school is in session!

My daughter went to the Y for their 2 and 3 year old programs. I loved the program and staff.

I don't know if it matters to the OP, but we opted to enroll our 4 year old daughter and our 2 year old son in a different nursery school because we wanted them to be with other children from their school district. In the two years we were there, we were the only ones from Harborfields and I don't recall having any Elwood students in her class, swim lessons or sports classes. It was mainly Huntington and South Huntington students.

For Elwood preschools I recommend: Island Kids Greenlawn (mix of HFs and Elwood kids), Noah's Ark. Also a lot of kids go to Humpty Dumpty on Pulaski.

Wondering where importerswife sent children where more Harborfields students attend? We are looking for preschool and also would like to be with Harborfields residents if possible. Thanks!
