Police on LI are very expensive considering how few their numbers are, much more expensive than they have any business being or need to be.
Yet again -- come up with a number or a plan -- should be simple, right?

Same old tired opinion.

So how's that agenda working out for you? Made any headway in reducing salaries, costs, taxes, etc?

We don't need to get rid of anybody, they will get rid of themselves due to their own arrogance, greed, and overinflated egos. A few more scandals like the crime lab fiasco, and shooting an unarmed taxi cab driver over a parking spot and the NCPD is done for.

They are hanging themselves with their own rope.

And not to forget those who can afford it, but don't think it's worth paying.

Just one question; if, to date,no one has been indicted, could it NOT be criminal? Perhaps you're letting your personal feelings cloud your judgement...and, you MIGHT want to check some facts about exactly what the "Cabbie" incident was over...

It's bad enough that the county pays union leaders who in turn acquire more benefits for the union, resulting in higher taxes. They also have to pay the leaders for overtime they might have had, even though they did not work OT. Who forced them into the union positions?

"Under the practice known as release time, a certain number of officials of public-sector unions are excused from their formal jobs to work on labor issues, at full pay ..........
"But there is more to the picture. In some cases, the public pays union brass more than if they actually performed the police jobs for which they were hired. The rationale: by representing the union, they are missing out on overtime pay and other extras."

Getting paid for a job not done

I wonder who will pay them their extras when all the taxpayers run far away with their tails between their legs (as suggested by the fans of these unscrupulous civil "servants")?

The opneing of that article is right on:

" It is an accepted scenario in the civil-service world. But a taxpayer
hearing it for the first time might think it comes from some other world."

It's no wonder counties don't want to go to arbitration with decisions like these.

New PBA ad on the radio today:

"Did you know that you only pay $80 per month per household for police and ambulance services"? I guess that means that no one in the house pays sales tax on anything?

They are really going to go with this lie, aren't they?
