I don't know about that "high money areas" myth. Look at the map LiltownBlues put up. Did you notice Freeport, Hempstead, Elmont had the biggest clusters, by far, for heroin use? I looked at Suffolk, same thing--Brentwood had the highest cluster.
We can throw that myth out the window now.
On Addressing drugs early. I think it does almost nothing. They addressed us as early as middle school, and half my class smoked weed in the sumps EVERY lunch period. It does very little to prevent it. If you prevent it in HS, the animal gets unleashed later on in life and they become the craziest drug users/drinkers when they get to college. Seen it a million times.
My friend pequa, on second thought you're right---we're just strokin' it to try to do anything---just makes us feel better. Thanks for the info.
You're correct, different drugs have different distributions on LI, the pharmacy probably got it's name from prescription pills, and I can believe the heroin clusters---not 100% but predictable-right.
If it stopped at beer drinkin' and a little weed like most of us did in the sumps, we'd probably be ok. Look how we turned out.

haha true. We made it out alive. I'd take a little grass and booze, over anything that was in "Rock" form or Pointy syringes .

That's for possession..probably nailing people selling and buying. Doesn't mean the users live there.
Heroin is cheaper than pot now, and it can be snorted or smoked (although addicts end up shooting, they don't start that way), so the stigma doesn't exist for kids.
This is a sad, sad story that ran on the national CBS Evening News a little while back
Maybe you saw it .....it was called MASSAPEQUA:HEROIN HIGH
(That Sir does not Rock ...if you get my point)
Apparently denial is a canal in South Nassau
Wake up guys its not a little weed.
Pay attention your kids are dying...and so are ours.
Crooks
PS Blue and Orange Blue and Orange Blue and Orange?
I don't think it was called that crooks. They showed 1 girl from Pequa. Out of 70,000 people in the pequa's, I'm pretty sure stuff like that is gonna happen. You are sensationalizing this poor girl's death to downplay that nothing is wrong at RP, that it's an island wide problem. Issues man.
Okay, I believe you...not really but calm down and worry about your own neck of the woods. The "rock" "Point" thing just came out like that. I think we had 4 teens arrested for the H out of 8,300 students. Not too shabby. I'd rather see weed & alcohol when these kids party like we did rather than the hard stuff (not meaning RP has the hard stuff only). Take a chill "pill" (oops), chill C.

No problem man.My neck of the woods is fine since were taking action.
Sorry If I came off as harsh. This is a very, very sad story that could very well happen anywhere.
It happened here too and I never implied otherwise.
Ive been to a few funerals over this (in both counties)already.
Please believe me, its a problem.
Its not just a little weed.
ugh crooks, that probably earned u a few more points to hell. Are you kidding me? No Class.
And why are you pulling up half decade old pdf's with Suozzi's name on them? Did you look at the recent 2010 maps for drugs in Suffolk/Nassau?
Your envy of pequa has turned into full blown obsession.
Peqs,
Ignorance is not an option although I'm not surprised.
I cant think of anything less respectful than what youre doing right now.
SHAME ON YOU for pretending theres not a serious heroin problem in Massapequa. That family went out on a National TV broadcast to educate other parents so that they might save a life along the way.WTF is wrong with you.Youre gonna put your head in the sand.Who gives a rats ass if she went to Plainedge or Rocky Point?
Although it was repeated that this issue affects every community in the county, Massapequa remained at the top of the list for heroin arrests, with 28 out of 243 so far this year. There to explain the district’s prior attempts at avoiding association with the heroin epidemic was Susan Woodbury, assistant superintendent for Massapequa Public Schools.
“It took us all by surprise,” Woodbury said, referring to the death of 18-year-old Massapequa resident and recent Plainedge High School graduate...
Uh, not that it matters (obviously not to you), she actually didn't go to Massapequa High, she went to Plainedge.
I Googled Plainedge HS. It is on Wyngate Dr, Massapequa, NY 11758
It might not be the same HS but it is in Massapequa. Unless there is some law that kids from the two school districts cant hang out then an OD of a kid from Massapequa makes no difference.
Is it a Seaford problem? That is where the girl went and OD.
