How do you know they were in a car? People walking on the sidewalk, in the direction of a school, at a time prior to school's start, could very easily stop on the sidewalk in the area by the driveway.
If these kids are experimenting with drugs -- don't their parents have a right to know? Or should we all ignore it?
A lot of people ignored Kitty Genovese figuring someone else would intervene. Look where that got her.
Kitty Genovese was being raped and killed. Most ridiculously inappropriate analogy EVER!!!
Honestly, get off your high horse. You have no idea what these kids are doing. If you want to scare them straight but "not get them in trouble" -- why not go outside and say something, rather than take creepy pictures of young girls and send them off places.
Not to make light because people do suffer (and I have been there personally), making the leap from smoking pot to dying from a heroin overdose is inaccurate, misleading and does not help the discussion. Millions of people drink and smoke pot WITHOUT becoming heroin addicts. More of the addiction of youth on LI is from perscription opiates. That is the difference in the last few years. Kids have been smoking pot since the 50's. The heroin epidemic of the 70's was from illegal heroin (post vietnam) flooding the streets. Then it mostly went away. Pot wasn't the gateway then or now. Now, there is an epidemic of perscription opiates (vicodin, oxycontin, oxycodone, etc). The kids are STARTING with this. Those kids laugh at pot smokers. They are well beyond using pot. These pills are expensive. When they realize it is cheaper and more effective to use heroin, that's what they do. The path from pot to OD is a false one. There are many bigger issues related to self-esteem, domestic life, peer issues, heredity that lead to opiate addiction. Saying "pot leads to heroin" is as ignorant as saying "a beer leads to heroin." It's simplistic, misleading and inaccurate.
How's that "war on drugs" working out for you 40 years later?! American's love to get high. Period. Education does alot more than condemnation.
One day weed, next day listening to that long haired hippie music, next day day subversive poetry, next day 1480 on their S.A.T. No wait, that isn't how it goes! Reefer madness lives.
Holy hyperbole on both sides here.
Either they're smoking the devil weed killing themselves....
...or it's a completely harmless exercise like skipping rope.

You're 100% right, but that doesn't mean that getting into the habit of smoking weed can't screw up your life..basically in the same way drinking can. I still think ratting out a couple of high school girls for smoking weed is an ok thing to do. I guess I'm getting old.
Wasn't marijuana proven to not be a "gateway drug"??
Of course, but if we pretend it is we can play the lets scare the kids game.
I don't smoke weed, nor do I think the girls should have been smoking it walking to school, but I think its a bit of an overreaction to start snapping pics. Personally I would rather someone smoke weed than cigs.

That's true, but so what. are we getting numb? ---I mean these girls are doing it in the open on this guys driveway on their way to school in the early am. Not a "gateway drug," but if they're that bold, they're probably doing the harder stuff already behind the dumpster or in someone's attic. Think about it and picture it. Nothing wrong?

Ok, but again, you're talking about adults, these are kids. Different rules apply, no?
The reactions to the original post are astounding. If this is a microcosm of they way most people in Long Island think it's no wonder Long Island has the drug problems it has.

Stick with the topic at hand -- that's for another thread.
If this were happening out front your house -- what would you do? You were rather upset with the tenants who were using one license plate between two cars -- which is as illegal as a minor using illegal drugs. You wanted to report them, right?

Yeah because smoking a bowl is the same thing as insurance fraud.
Insurance fraud affects multiple people.
Being a young stupid kid and getting blazed before class affects just the young stupid kid.
