Well I don't have much more to say, you summed it up pretty well "proudimmigrant". when I moved to L.I it use to be "PROUD AMERICAN".

You keep singing yourself to sleep with that hs...
The part you're right about between NC and L.I. schools are the teachers got it better than any other schools....
Not the kids....
Where ever you think you want to move to...... put all your vacation time together and spend it all there.....
Then you'll know what and where works for you...
Vacation and visiting trips all look great....
Someone would think L.I. is great and have no clue how disguised the bs is here....

when talking to college friends who aren't from LI... it's hard to justify that I grew up in LI for all this additional money and they went through the NYC public school system. HEY, WE ALL WENT TO THE SAME COLLEGE.
It's just about opportunities getting there. Influences, how you are surrounded, what you are exposed to - all that jazz. That's why towns & school districts matter - so that the kids have the best opportunity, the best chances. Does Raleigh, NC weigh in on a similar level to where you'd settle here - that's the answer you should seek. It's not LI vs. NC as a whole.

lol .. lmao...You have to admit that proudimmigrant has a point. This country was built on the backs of immigrant so your remarks about immigrants and who's going to pay for freebies wasn't well thought out. I'm sure you're from a family of immigrants. I'm guessing user id "proudimmigrant" was used as a mockery of all the crap that's discussed on this thread. lol .... now illegal immigrants...well that's a whole other discussion which we've been through numerous times.

not to hijack (but i will, incase the op likes his hair well groomed):
any raleigh natives/transplants know where there's an old fashioned barber shop in raleigh? i can go to a salon, a dominican stylist or a place for afro-cuts, but i can't find a plain old men's barber!
i wan't a guy who has a full line vitalis and club man products at his chair, uses the brush overloaded with talc powder and will most likely drop ashes on me from his cigarette...
edit: and will charge $10-$12 for a haircut

lol That's so true! I have the same problem here I found good pizza,Chinese food even bagels but a good old fashion barber...nope. I have resorted to the land of sports and great clips Which down here consists of 20 yo female college dropouts. If any old school Italian barbers happen to read and want a change and make a fortune..you might want to open shop down here.......and bonus points if your name is Dom or Domenic

Hey Mike I know a good old fashion barber in Ashland. $12.00 cut, shaves your neck with a straight blade and even has bay rum hair tonic. There is also one in Mechanicsville, never have to worry at either place. Your just on the wrong side of the river..lol...

The one in Mechanicsville is "Charlies" and is located in old mechanicsville off 360 the one is Ashland is "Owens" located in a cottage at the Henry Clay Shopping Center on Rt 54. Half the fun of both places is "observing" the local gentry especially at Charlies...
