Not in that sense.

Kind of like they were acutely aware of whats changed.

Maybe the contrast isnt as dire for WLI but ELI and HV were more aligned once

I just got back from the Hudson Valley (nice area)and I found myself getting a very disapproving eye and a curt retort when I told folks I was from LI.

I eventually started telling them I was from Eastern LI and although the glare was a tad less disapproving, there still seemed to be this unspoken icy disdain.
They sound nasty and very ill-mannered. Even I am nice to tourists from everywhere in NYC and help them if they ask.

Why treat a stranger badly who has done nothing to you? (UNLESS there's something about your own behavior you are not telling us?)

As do I.

Its like Hamptons North up in some of those towns.

These folk were pretty earthy...not unkind.

I am confused.

Hamptons North?

The Hamptons is considered a lot of things, but a bastion of "earthy type folk" is not one of them.

Not true in the slightest bit in my region. Maybe it's a north country thing.

Jeeze Crooks, you're starting to sound like me when I talk about my Long Island. Hold onto that little slice as long as you can.
