That is what makes it enjoyable. It is hard to say what is fact, when everything is based on your own perception. As an aside please keep putting Clamboy in his place, I found that very enjoyable

agreed and BTW the way my WASP comment about babylon was based mostly on my many years of experience at Southward Ho country club(which is in Bay Shore but has many a Babylon member), as my Dad was a long time Babylon resident & member of Southward.

I'm a clamboy fan, but every once in a while he needs help getting his facts straight so I try to help

My cousin lives in Centereach & she is happy with the town & the education her two young kids are getting.
I personally don't like areas with so much traffic. There are areas of North Coram (look for "the W section or H section) that are in the same district as centerach but are tucked away from the traffic.
South setauket & the three village school district are nice but I do not think the taxes are as low as centereach.
Good luck!
Isn't Coram not so nice of a town?

What does having a good childhood have to do with where you live? My parents grew up in Elmont & Hempstead...they had good childhoods too. Times & places are a-changing, folks! Things aren't what they used to be.

New Village is on a distinguished road
Smile Judge of hamlets at it again

Has anyone driven through Rocky Point or Sound Beach lately? I'll take Centereach any day. By the way, Middle Country schools are just as good as Sachem these days. Newfield even beats Sachem North. Boy your right. The times sure are changing. It may not be Three Village, but like a Mustang, you sure get a lot of bang for your buck. And by the way, South Setauket was never, and never will be a part of Centereach. It historicaly was a part of Setauket. In 1954 Setauket was divided by Nesconset highway. Because of this, the post office decieded to lump "South Setauket" into the 11720 ZIP code to make the delivery of mail more efficient. You should know that ZIP codes do not define hamlet, or even village boundries. As Judge of Hamlets, you must have known this fact. If not, consider yourself schooled. By the way I would not malign your neck of the woods, I just prefer Centereach.

Funny this should come back up. I've recently stumbled across some very old maps (1917) that do show a South Setauket, however it's labeled as being way further north in the modern day Setauket-East Setauket hamlet.

Default South Setauket

Setauket south of what is now 25A was noted as South Setauket on older maps. So much for it not existing. Sorry Clam Bake. Clam Boy. Whatever...

Default For those who may not be familiar with Centereach

For those who may not be familiar with Centereach:
