seems like some time passed between the guy with the knives getting shot and the poor cop getting shot. It would appear that something went VERY wrong from a communication standpoint once everything was over inside the house.

I heard they chased him up the track.

Is there more of this Satanic stuff there.I remember the stuff in Northport back in the day.

Were the cops investigating him for being creepy?

Crooks
I remember the story of that nutball:

Ricky Kasso - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I read this book about the crime ages ago:

Say You Love Satan (1987, ISBN 0-440-17574-7) by David St. Clair

You could probably find it in the library.

Difference between these stories is Kasso was a MURDERER; this guy was a stupid mope running around bothering people.

Fun Fact: Kasso was the offspring of a high school history teacher and football coach at Cold Spring Harbor High School. Ain't it always the teacher's or the preacher's kid?

They are going over police procedures in the aftermath of this tragic accidental shooting.

Police said Breitkopf had a rifle at his side as he approached a Massapequa Park house where other Nassau officers had killed a man minutes before.

Plainclothes officers such as Breitkopf are trained to display a badge when approaching other officers, particularly when armed, according to Nassau police union president James Carver. There is no department policy that they wear identifying insignia on jackets when entering crime scenes, he said. A department source said Breitkopf's badge was found, but that it is not known whether he wore it outside his clothing.

This whole incident is one of the reasons why I am leery about the use of unmarked cars and plainclothes officers for day to day policing duties. The suspect was already DEAD. There was no reason for Officer Breitkopf to show up with an M4 carbine at the ready. The shooting occurred and ended something like 13 minutes earlier. They even said over the radio to slow down the additional units.

trust me, this mta cop is already feeling heat for what he did.
Wrong again. There is no distinction in the law between on and off duty cops. Their police powers are 24/7 and by their department rules and regulations, cops are required to take police action when necessary. In fact, they can face disciplinary action for failing to do what is required, even when they are off duty.

Seems like you don't know as much as you think you do. But we've already been down that road.

Folks.. Please report posts rather than get into making personal comments about another member. Do not look up previous comments and post them in a new thread.

Our opinions on a location or issue are just that, opinions. Highly subjective. Personal preferences. Quirks, even. Leave wiggle room for dialogue, others may not see things the same as you, or been there as long as you, and any one of us can be wrong. Pouncing on someone you disagree with runs contrary to the spirit of this board and its members. We are here to help each other.

A tragedy for the cops, their families, and the family of the loser who started this whole thing.

What is with this gay/goth/knife clique? This guy is very reminiscent of the psycho who killed newsman George Weber, seeing all his facebook photos.

Notice, if your kid has a room filled with scary looking weapons, you might want to start asking questions.

Either this kid was really high or he had a death wish that day.

but there's a difference between opinion and fact...

i think long island is nice, you don't <---opinions, that's cool, to each his own

police powers, duties, etc, etc <--- facts ... and if someone posts WRONG information as fact, it should be called/pointed out

This is where parents need to wake up and be involved in their kids lives and see what they are doing, hanging with, etc.... Obviously the signs were there that this person may have had some issues and not going thru a stage. Get your kids/family members help before it escalates.

Suicide by cop not is not just detrimental to the family of slain, but to the families of the first responders as well.
