Need advice for rent a place to live (suffolk county) (Sound Beach: real estate, rentals)

i'm currently paying 1550 with my girl friend near stony brook area.
but somebody stole my car seats in front of my apt so i don't want to live in this apt any more because i am worried and scary.

so i'm looking for rent a house attached garage for around 1500
i'm international student and i'm not familiar with real estate thing

i'm trying to find community like condo that has garage but they are all for over 50 retired people. i have no idea where to look up
also i have no idea if i can rent one with that amount of money.
i don't care if the house is very small. i just need a garage and place for me and my gf to live.

can anybody give me an advice?

You are not going to be able to find a whole house for rent in a good neighborhood for 1500/month. You need about 2200 minimum for that.

Sound Beach is perfectly nice, safe and I'm sure you could find a small home there for 1500.
Plenty of students rent there and youre by the water too.

Cant be choosers on that budget, off street parking is a plus on a small home.Garages are tougher to come by in that range.
Either way Sound Beach is his best bet for a small, affordable house in a good area near SUSB.

Try townhouse village in coram (part of brookwood). It's on route 112 (between route 83 and middle country road)and most of the units have attached garages.
