It is not worth the money at all. If you are referring to the village of Floral Park, you will pay extra taxes for services that are not all that magnificent. The village police are just so so. Residents are complaining they never see the police patrol their blocks, when that should be going on considering it's a village police department. If you pick up some local papers, you will find numerous reports of vandalisms and break ins and other sorts of crime, which should not be occurring with a village police that you pay top dollar for.

Lots are very small and tight, similar to Queens only in Queens you do not pay the insane taxes that you will in Floral Park. Schools are just so so, with no middle school. That is a major negative because what that means is middle school children go to school with punky high schoolers. Not a good mix, prepubescents with teens.

Also, it's a very mayberry sort of town where everyone will nosey in on your business. Most residents have lived there forever, grew up there so if you are not from there, you can be viewed as an outsider/outcast. You would be so much better off spending your money elsewhere in Nassau.

Not much. Bellerose Village is a planned 1920's community that has some lovely older homes. They are not inexpensive. BV is in the Nassau side of the Floral Park SD. The lots are smallish and there are rules - a community association.
Pretty houses but right outside it's a whole other world.
Basically a rough, blue collar area. So that's who goes to the schools.
Never good to own the most expensive house in the district, IMO.

My family is originally from Floral Park. I like it a lot, that being said keep a few things in mind- It is a VERY Irish neighborhood-if you're not Irish, you probably won't fit in. You will pay a lot of taxes for not a lot of property, but it is super convenient to the city. The Village has a lot of quirky rules, but in the end I think they benefit the neighborhood-something to consider. Also, if you're looking at schools-make sure the house is zoned for Floral Park Memorial. Good luck.

Thanks for the info Sheena...

Just wondering where the rough area's were so I could check them out. Was in Floral Park today, north and south of Jericho, with real estate agent, really did not see any rough areas. Although nice, was not interested in the North side, too close to Queens. South side has potential.

Thanks again for the help, it is much appreciated...

I have friends who live there who love it.Tight old school, everyone knows who should be there...and who shouldnt.
I agree with the outsider post

Only beef they have is the taxes and the teensy plots.
The no street parking can be a hassle with guests when youre on a 40x80 w 2 cars.

They are there for ever and FWIW theyre old school Italian.

I go there for a block party almost every year and its awesome.
Theyre a stones throw from the numbered streets and they have no problems.

Major Indian community on the Queens side. Very safe but you gotta be cool with Queens.
