Very funny. I actually googled thinking they were still in business.

That happened to me with Arby's. I tried it upstate about a year and a half ago and it WAS NOT nearly as good.

Have you tried the one in Queens right off the Long Island Expressway?
I go by there just about every night and wonder if I should try it.

In-And-Out CANNOT expand to Long Island, or anywhere further than a certain distance from California. I spoke to someone who worked high up in their corporate HQ on vacation once and he explained that all their food is made fresh and shipped to each location daily, and that because of distance from the central disturbing site it is not feasible for them to expand past Texas unless customers were willing to accept the resulting drop in food quality.
They are a regional, family owned chain with a cult following similar to White Castle in our area ... it's really nothing special.

Give it a shot because you'll never know otherwise and always will second guess yourself. I haven't been by the one in Queens.

I know everyone must be SUPER EXCITED that the SONIC which was "opening next year" as per a thread on here from 2008 will be officially open for business this Monday!! What a huge win for Long Island, I can't wait. I wonder if there will be an official ceremony with a D-list celebrity (possibly a long forgotten American Idol contestant or Steve Gutenburg) cutting a ribbon to the sound of a brass band and 21-gun salute?

Didn't some guy out east try to open a bootleg "In-N-Out Burger" that had nothing to do with the franchise a few years ago? I remember reading about that somewhere... and that he got sued.

I am sure the corniest, hokiest radio station on LI will be broadcasting from there!
For another fast food chain we can use -- how about What-A-Burger? I used to go them in FL but haven't been there (FL actually) in years. I remember they had a cute little What-A-Burger official coffee cup and everytime you brought in your cup you could get coffee for a nickel!

Yes, I know that already. I grew up in So. Calif.
Did you really compare White Castle to In-N-Out?? That's blasphemy. No comparison, not even close. As far as them having a "cult" following, that's not true. I've never visited an In-N-out that wasn't crowded. They have 100's of locations in Calif., Oregon, Nevada, and Arizona now. I know because I've been to quite a few of them. White Castle plain sucks. Period. In my opinion.
I heard a bunch of chatter about how great Five Guys was, so I gave them a try. Was not impressed at all. I thought maybe they just had a "bad day", so I tried them again. Same results.
I have to add that Bobby's Burger Palace makes a good burger, albeit, expensive. A good treat once in awhile.
In-N-Out does everything right. A simple burger (thin meat) with the right amount of fresh tomato, crunchy lettuce, and excellent sauce, on a perfect sponge bun. The fries are great if you order them well-done. The shakes are to die for.
