I know I read somewhere on this forum that there were a lot of apartments in North Bellmore. Was wondering if this is section 8 or if there is low income housing in the area. Just curious.

Was anything ever built on the site of the old military base on Maple Ave? I know there was some controversy some years ago over low income housing being built there.

Isn't that only for senior citizens though?

There's one of those Town of Hempstead "housing projects" that are only for senior citizens on Bellmore Avenue, but it's closer to Sunrise.

I think he's talking about the apartment buildings that are on Newbridge just north of where it crosses Bellmore Ave. If I had to guess I'd say those are probably inhabited by at least some Section 8 tenants. Maybe all of them are, not sure...

I wouldn't be too concerned about it, North Bellmore on the whole probably has the same amount of S8 tenants as any other similar town.

Most senior complexes have to have a certain % for section 8.

Why can't I put my finger on where this is exactly?

As per CD the Black population in North Bellmore is at 2.7%. Is that mostly middle class families or is that lower income?
